Peter Hanson, DVM, PhD, DACVS

Peter brings 27 years of pharma and biotech experience spanning multiple disciplines in both animal and human health across a range of therapeutic areas, including pain, genetic engineering and xenotransplantation, parasitology, oncology and vaccines.

An experienced biotechnology executive, Peter creates value in companies by leveraging a cross-functional background in research, product development, clinical, regulatory, quality, manufacturing, operations, fundraising, and executive leadership.

He has 9-years experience in biotech as COO at eGenesis and CDOO at Centrexion Therapeutics, and 18-years before that in large pharma animal health R&D (Merck, Merial, and Abbott). He has been a key presenter in investor meetings, including test the waters and roadshow presentations, that raised >$250M inVC and private funding. He has been a key contributor to the business section of S-1 IPO registration documents.

Peter is a strategic business leader who has navigated complex integrations, business development deals, and global product launches. This includes a successful R&D integration between animal health companies and a subsequent intended integration that was ultimately abandoned. He has been part of teams that created nondilutive value for the business with out-licensing a Phase 1 pain asset and in-licensing a blockbuster flea and tick parasiticide, which became NEXGARD® , in animal health. He has participated in US and worldwide launches of three animal drugs (PREVICOX® , EQUIOXX® , OROCAM® ).

As an operational leader, Peter has transitioned companies from preclinical to clinical, includinggrowth from tens of employees to more than 100, and who drives operational and IPO-readiness. He drove transition from academic-oriented research to development and regulatory compliance, led development programs to worldwide animal health regulatory approval, oversaw contract manufacturing and technology transfer, and was the executive sponsor for a team that enrolled more than 1500 subjects in Phase 3 trials. He has led in-house development, as well as work with CROs and CDMOs.

Peter holds a DVM from the University of Minnesota and a large animal surgery residency certificate, MS and PhD from the University of Wisconsin. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
